off topic <<Another though would be to try to pick up COMS in the high 20's >>

I own coms & am very afraid off my profit being wiped out, I am interested in hearing why you feel it could go to those levels. I am debating wether I should close my position or not. Do you feel it has more to sink, I would hate to dump now if it is at the bottom. ( I also felt that way at 49,48,47,46.....) I am up about %20 at today's price.

Please email me if you do not want to respond on WD thread.

Johnathan, excellent post. You and I seem to be in the same stocks. I feel much more confident about cs and sunw though. I think the entire dd industry will be in the dumps for 6 months at least. I am virtually positive that nothing will happen till Jan '98. Seg's problems will continue to haunt this field for another quarter or two. Qntm doesn't expect to make money on disk drives, so I doubt wdc will set any records and the comparisons might be tough. I learned a very costly lesson by not unloading wdc when the price was in the 40's (50's would have been too perfect to expect). I won't make that mistake again. If wdc could hit 35 by Jan I would be happy with that (with my remaining small position).
Incidentally, coms is another of my huge mistakes. I think it too will take a while to recover. cs imo is a better bet because it has already gone through a 6 month consolidation period which wdc and coms are just beginning. I don't know about 6300 on the Dow, though I am expecting at least one more test of the recent lows. But the dd sector will definitely be weaker than the overall market for the forseeable future. Personally, I'm going to leave it be for a good while and visit it again next year some time. If people end up making moolah in the interim then they deserve it. I think anyone expecting to make money here right away (i.e. as in options) is taking a humongous risk and the risk/reward ratio looks pretty bad to me.
