Speaking of stupid prices, I was surfing around the web yesterday and decided to check out Durango, CO, where I lived in 1965-66. We were renters in those days, but had a chance to buy a fairly new house for $400 down and assume a reasonable mortgage. We were on the verge of moving so passed on the deal. Yesterday I was stunned to see homes, somewhat nicer than my $400 deal, selling upwards of $700k. They were selling mobile homes for over $150k. It's a beautiful part of the state, but not at those prices. I still favor AZ, when the time comes for me to REALLY retire.
