Wallow is the right term. I have a 64 year old SIL who is still blaming all of her problems on her parents. They're long gone, she had a marvelous upbringing, wanted for nothing, but in her mind they were just "awful."

My recently departed brother-in-law was the same way. Despite all his work in the 12-step and contemptlative communities, he constantly criticized his parents for the job they did raising him, my wife and their sister. He just couldn't let go of it.

Serves no purpose, in my opinion. Move on and get over it.
