Gib, can we just end this ? ? . NZ's laws do not permit gun ownership for self protection. After all the John Wayne type movies in the US do you think your system would work here ? (I'm just a trained killer thanks to Pres. Truman drafting me, and God only knows how many more our military has returned as civilians.)

I want to be safe,and I am not safe if I am defenceless. I want to be able to defend myself and loved ones...I physically can't fight off one,or several robbers,or bad guys regardless of whether they have a gun,a knife ,or a club,or bare-handed.And i bet you can't either...I know my sister can't. If you are ever faced with the fact that you can't protect Mrs.Bogle,you will denounce the society that leaves you defenseless. I personally hope that never happens.Bad things happen to good people everywhere,and either you are prepared or you are a victim.Are you prepared? Did you catch the fact that even in heavily armed Switzerland you are still twice as likely to be killed with a bladed weapon? And that most non-domestic gun violence is with illegally held guns? A gun is the most economical and effective method of self-defence. That is why i have a gun,and lots of them.Without a gun i don't have a chance.You don't either. regards,P1976
