So while the Taiwanese don't have to be strong enough to defeat a Chinese invasion, they do have to be strong enough to hold the Chinese back until American reinforcements can show up.

Whoever wrote this has been smoking something pretty heavy. There is not a chance in the world that the U.S. would involve itself militarily in defending Taiwan against a Chinese invasion, certainly not under this president. We would blow, bluster, threaten, and negotiate and nothing else.
