the purpose of a thread is to share info and opinion. personally i find dave's comments fresh and insightful. I don't care whether he is long or short, because i can't imagine buying or selling a stock on the recomendation of another. the world is not neatly divided between bull and bears. there are of course the titos and the jumpers at the extremes but there are also others like myself perhaps, that are fundementally bullish on amat, but have reservations about the marketplace. we trade. often on nothing more than a hunch that opinion is shifting. we don't deal in black or white realities. it has stopped me from losing my shirt many times. I say all this because if we tar and feather people on this thread because they don't share our opinion, we will be doing ourselves a disservice.

Well derek, I have had time and am sharing my opinion, not sure if it's doing anyone any good, but I'm enjoying sharing thoughts and counter thoughts. Unfortunately, alot of the counters have been...the company said everything is fine....the analysts said buy...the 1998 estimates reflect the stock is undervalued...big upgrades are coming..etc. The views above can change in a heartbeat, as they have in the past...as a matter of fact some of the analysts are already jumping ship. To me that's a more shortterm view than what I have been accused of....we need to look out past what all those guys are saying and look at the industry that semi caps support and do a health check at that level to support our views. And when I look at that, I don't see alot of positives at this point. dave
