(Beating the liberal R's) I live in NY's 23rd district and I'm a Hoffman supporter. I actually felt better with Scozzafava still in the race. I was disappointed that she didn't verbally support Hoffman after suspending her campaign. Makes me a little nervous now, she is more liberal than the Dem-Owens. So I'm hoping the people supporting her don't go and vote for Owens(D) out of spite. I don't know what the folks were thinking that chose her, we are very conservative here. A lot of Mennonite and Amish live here. There's nothing Republican about her. According to the paper, we have not had a Democrat represent this district since the Civil War. Folks who say outside right wing groups are hijacking the Republican party here have no idea what they're talking about. We already are right wing, and proud of it. I see a ton of signs for Hoffman, very few for Scozzafava and even less for Owens. Looking forward to making a big statement here next Tuesday. I can tell you one thing, people here are fed up with the out of control spending, frivolous bailouts, ever increasing taxes and politicians who have forgotten they work for us. I hope we can send a shot heard around the world! I met Doug Hoffman about 4 weeks ago before he became a national news story and he is humble and down to earth. He said he was a poor kid (with 3 siblings I believe) raised by a single parent in Saranac Lake, which is in our district. Now he is a successful businessman because he worked hard and went to school to make a better life for himself. I don't begrudge him because he is successful. One of the Owens commercials is calling him a millionaire. That's what we need more of, people like him who can pull themselves up by the sweat of their brow and not looking for a government handout.
