I have a book written by her on the 1936 summer Olympics. It is a photographic essay. Pure propaganda but very well done. Great photos, remniscent of Margaret Bourke White. My father was there canoeing in the tandem 1000 and 10,000 metre events with Warren Saker. Canada took home 3 medals in canoeing that year. But the athletes had to pay their own way there. The German government paid their way back. There was no CDN Olympic association paying for training and travel back then. Until I think 1980 support for amateur sport of that type did not exist in Canada. Nancy Greene would have had to pay all her own expenses, but she had someone sponsor her. A CDN NHL hockey player, Bill White, sponsored canoeists from the late fifties on, and I can remember he was still doing it in the mid eighties.
