Hello Energyplay.
Living in Canada, where the hospital bills are paid by the
government, is not so terrible. Most people don't feel "shafted".
In fact the public health system is well liked. I remember a statistic.
In the US 14% of the GNP is
spent on health; in Canada the corresponding number is 12%.
My wife has had three serious operations, all of them free to us.
So how does Canada do it? Via the income tax. People who make
lots of money can afford the income tax

P.S. I think Obama is well meaning. I strongly disagree with
his fiscal policies such as leaving the banks and stock market
still connected. That's a terrible thing. Anyway he is a great
improvement over Bush. And why is government medicine so bad?
