Hi Frank, << I've not quite yet reached the same level of homeostasis in connection with Web-based music listening as you seem to have achieved. >> LOL! Well chosen word. My savage beast is soothed -- now that I've got my music library transferred intact (duplicated) from my home office's XP box to its new primary Win7 box. << BTW, when you state that, "both serviced by Verizon FIOS and connected by ethernet to a Verizon supplied Actiontec wired/wireless router" , do you merely mean that your broadband connection is provided by Verizon, or is VZ also contractually performing ongoing residential network administration and maintenance functions (as would apply if you had them install a full-blown residential entertainment gateway system) for you as well? >> Verizon is my broadband (and mobile wireless) provider and I'm simply a very satisfied residential subscriber of their triple play (plus mobile) services. FIOS FTTH is a great service. I'm a highly satisfied 24 year user of Verizon (via Bell Atlantic) and Verizon Wireless (via BAM for 18 years) for landline and mobile ... and added their broadband Internet and HDTV/SDTV service ~30 months ago, almost a year after the initial truck roll of their fiber on my street and the 1st week they made HDTV service available here after clearing local regulatory hurdles. When I think of corporate 'Excellence' (in the sense that Thomas Peters & Robert Waterman, Jr, used the term back in the eighties) Verizon immediately comes to mind, and I consider former NYNEX lineman, Ivan G. Seidenberg, who put Verizon together, to be one of Americas great contemporary corporate leaders. As for a "full blown residential entertainment ... system" (with FIOS connectivity), one of these months (years) I'll complete the building of one to tie my office, my wife's home entertainment center in the family room, mine in the living room, and the upstairs master bedroom's, with FIOS connectivity that's been a WIP of mine for several years. I haven't really explored it yet but Microsoft's Windows Media Center in Win7 looks like it lends itself well to that project which probably will never be quite complete. Best, - Eric -
