It's always nice to have a fresh letter from Bramson to read
through. In trying to read between the lines of his letter,
I noticed more a slight shift in the overall tone... as if his
mind is currently focused specifically on making sure he does
not loose sight of the fundamentals and maintaining the health
of the core storage business. With the share price so low, that
has been what is on my mind as well.

His comments regarding KM are nothing really new, but seems he
is bracing everyone in case it does not work out. They are months
into there relationship with Samsung on KM, I know they cannot go
into great detail on the progress, but it would have been nice at
least get a little clearer picture on the schedule they have in
mind. I personally dont fully understand the idea that it has to
all be so secret. It is a patented technology and no one is going
to steal it. Other developments in the drive industry seem to be
disclosed fairly plainly (from my amature perspective).

His comments about the R&D funding got me to thinking again about
the fundamentals - I dont think they defined it well in the past
and that made it next to impossible for anyone to do more then
guess at forward looking earnings. I took his comments as a
sign that this might change - which would be very helpful in
getting institutions to give AXC a look.

Did I imagine it , or did Ed actually say " reasonably optimistic". That is downright giddy for him.
No liquor at the celebratory party someday ......can'y serve liquor to "miners". Gus, among your other skills, you are a born teacher. Thanks.
Fastened in for the ride.

Thanks for the investigative work; it had been a while since I checked the AXC website for anything new.

Obviously, this letter was dated 10/27/97 and only today came to light, through your assistance, to all those who frequent this forum, lurkers and participants the like. I think again this points to Ampex's lack of PR, even to its own shareholders since four days went past before it was discovered.

The letter also brings us nothing new. The covered items have been already discussed to death on this thread over the last few months, and only serves to confirm what we already knew, beit this time from the horse's mouth (or ass depnding on your outlook on AXC).

I was truly hoping that the next chairman's letter would bring us some good news that would help increase shareholder value. What we got was a useless comunication which will surely not help us in he short term at least.
