Hi Nemer,

I had often wondered if Red Dog was a neural net. In a previous life I worked very obliquely with a professor at UNC-CH Business School on neural nets (PC based). I had been thinking about fuzzy logic approaches to investing recently but haven't had the time to go much further with it.

After meeting with Donald for lunch the other day, I started thinking about it again. Processing power, number of inputs, timeliness of inputs always seemed to be the sticking points. (To state the obvious.) I have not looked at any in the last 10 years or so. Come to think of it, that was about the time of the last crash...

I may do a little poking around. I'll post if I see anything interesting.

Carlyle

Nemer ---

Thanks for the information. I lurked here for a while before posting. I was busy on other threads and just starting into Options. When might you have posted the info? Was it this year? February? April? Do you have any idea? I have been known to search past posts for specific information.

So, do you think the 35K permutations that are being calculated provide a good enough knowledge base?

I think we were doing something like 100K, but only 5 inputs. I was running mine on a 286-20MHz machine. Thank goodness for the extra memory. Sheesh!!! It was slow!!! If memory serves me correctly (and it usually doesn't), it was taking about 20 hours.

David

PS --- liked the part about your "fuzzy logic" and your partner's weird humor.
