Last 10 years was a secular bear. A secular bull makes everyone
look like a genius. However, during the bear everyone loses,
even the bears. During such times the main investment objective
should be capital preservation (in terms of purchasing power).
Gold does it, so it goes up. It's not REALLY going up, thou,
it's the dollar that's crashing. -g-

It is extremely hard for folks to part with the concept
of paper being money that has stable value. Even now, as gold
soars to 1,100 they want to exchange it for green paper.

In my lifetime I watched paper money to have stable value
over a period of 20 years, then suddenly lose 4 zeroes in
5 years or so. The Russian rouble.

I have seen government revaluations and defaults. It's all
within realm of possibilities, especially when we know how
broke the government is.
