I don't agree. Ok, I admit there is a degree of Schadenfreude, but in our 2 party system there is a great danger

I don't know... I think the system is broken anyway... with all the money and gerrymandering it's doesn't very much represent the public anymore. It's a 'corporate representative democracy' these days. There is no longer any compromise between the two parties so you either have one way legislation or no legislation.

I still think a third party, though very disruptive would go aways toward fixing things. Independents not long ago were less than a third of the electorate now they are pushing towards 40% and growing fast. Young folks are much less inclined to favor Reps or Dems. The moderate and "Tea" Republicans seem to be getting a divorce. Both parties seem to have moved towards their more extreme poles and abandoned the middle. 10%+ unemployment, two wars... Fertile ground for a third party, more so than ever in my lifetime.

It will be interesting to see it play out. The system is rigged against new party organizations... but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Amusing watching these guys self destruct in slow motion."

I don't agree. Ok, I admit there is a degree of Schadenfreude, but in our 2 party system there is a great danger. When one of the two parties commits suicide, that allows the other party to commit great sins.

I'm not even worried about that right now. The degradation of the GOP is turning increasingly violent. It concerns me when such a large institution starts to spin out of control and does not seem to have anyone responsible at the helm. Worse.....many of its members don't seem to see the dangers its creating. The American system is dependent on balance.....a kind of symmetry. When symmetry is lost, I fear what might happen. Yes, it simply could be the corruption of the Dems and that would be bad enough.......but it could be so much worse.
