I laugh when people talk about all the extra expenses of a public health care system. Even if it were as inefficient as our current system, it would not be new costs. We are already paying these costs in welfare and Medicaid. Yes, some unisured folks are just allowed to die, but that is hardly free, either. It is just moving the expenses from one account to the next.

One of the reasons we cannot compete is that our corporations are strapped with health care insurance costs. Those costs are growing MUCH faster than corporate earnings. Foreign cos. prefer to build plants in Canada just so they can avoid such costs (also, Canadians seem to be better educated in their pre college schools.)

I am not surprised that a 10th grader cannot do fractions. One of the reasons I love poker is that it has taught a generation of young people to appreciate math. Unfortunately, poker's impact is rather minimal in the overall scheme of things.
