Jim, I disagree that we are behind the curve on energy. There is unlimited energy and it's not a lot more expensive than existing energy.

There is no limit to either photovoltaics or cellulose as energy supplies [okay, no limit that is relevant].

It wasn't cheap, easy energy which delivered the industrial revolution and the amazing 20th century and now the miracle of cyberspace. It was ingenuity. Synergistic ingenuity.

And there is plenty more of that and in fact it's orders of magnitude more than this time last century.

We have had decades of "omigosh we are running out of oil" and we aren't. We haven't even scratched the surface of tars and heavy goop and shale and coal. When running out didn't work, the doomstering turned to "Omigosh we are flooding the air with CO2".

Unfortunately [for the doomsters] that's proving not to be the case either. It's leaking out quickly and with Peak People on the horizon and perpetually improving technology it seems unlikely that CO2 will continue to gain ground for another 100 years.

For decades I have disagreed with the Malthusian ideas and Club of Rome worries. So far, I'm right and they are wrong and the trends are in my favour.

Meanwhile, while we await the outcomes, I unilaterally declare a truce.

Gung Ho,
Mqurice
