Spending a great deal of money all at once does not guarantee budget collapse down the road

If it was a one time thing, that would be something else. But nothing has changed with structural issues, so it is a long term problem.

Except it doesn't have to remain at current high levels. First, the danger of econ. collapse is passing. More spending for stimulus will not be needed. Secondly, collections are starting to ramp back up........the rich are spending again. Thirdly, we are winding down the Iraq war; soon to be followed by the Afghan war. Defense spending will start to go down.

You're looking at one aspect of the problem and screaming the sky is falling.

The stimulus was by no means a one time shot in the arm. It is just a seed money of a built up of higher future spending, worse structural problems.

That's your take....not mine.

And that does not even include the health "reform". What is killing the federal budget are the Medicare and Medicaid costs. Obama is going to greatly increase the scope of these problems.

In the long term health care reform will save money.

My by the seat of my pants estimate for ObamaCare is 20 trillion dollars over 10 years. I would be willing to make a sizable bet with anyone who thinks it will be closer to $800 Billion.
