My mother used to take my brothers and sisters and I into Detroit in December to see the window displays and see Santa at the JL Hudson department store. They dedicated what seemed like a whole floor to "Santa Land" and it was a pretty magical place for a kid. Afterward we'd have lunch in the store cafeteria. Of course, now, the store is gone. Torn down several years ago and closed for years and years before that.

Denver was a wonderful place...the windows were each decorated with a different theme, usually with music, and lots of color, sparkle, and excitment for kids....I heard Grownups laughing too, so they must have enjoyed it as much as we did!
