Civilian law sets the wrong bar. We're doing the irresponsible thing.

Not even France does something this stupid.

Civilian law sets a higher bar. We're doing the responsible thing.

Responsible? It is totally irresponsible. You allow the trial to be used to gin up anti-American sentiment (pretty much like releasing the Abu Ghraib photos, which of course, resulted in American lives being lost). As this sordid bullshit is broadcast, via al Jazeera, all over the ME, you give him a platform for expressing anti-American hatred. And you make America look foolish in the eyes of the enemy, who will simply use this to its substantial advantage. It is among the more incompetent actions the president has taken (and that's saying a lot).

A "high bar" should be reserved for those who aren't engaged in a war against us.

Explain how convolution of the legal process (which doesn't normally try enemy soldiers in our criminal courts) is in our national interest?

European Union Forcing Homosexual Agenda on Members

The European Parliament and the Lithuanian Parliament are crossing swords regarding homosexual propaganda in schools and member state sovereignty.

Paraphrasing, the EU said "do it or else." Lithuania responded with "up yours and stay out of our business."
The argument began with passage of a Lithuanian "Law on the Protection of Minors against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information" which prohibits promotion of "homosexual, bisexual, polygamous relations" among children under the age of 18. While the Lithuanian president subsequently vetoed the measure, the Siemas overturned his veto and the law is slated to go into effect next March.

As a consequence, in September the European Parliament (EP) voted 349-218 to condemn the new law and ask the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights to review it. The Parliament also considered what is called an "article 7"? (sic) action against Lithuania, which could have resulted in Lithuania's suspension from the European Union. Jean Lambert, a British MEP said at the time, "This law contravenes the EU Treaties, the EU Charter and the European Convention on Human Rights, and should be urgently repealed on those grounds."? (sic)

Besides the education of children and parental rights, the issue of national sovereignty is central to the debate. The Lithuanians insist they are free to enact such laws and that the European Institutions have no "competence" in them. Many Europeans have long feared what they see as inevitable EU interference in life and family matters.
It's been suggested that the EU is acting like the former Soviet Union when member states were under the oppressive "Moscow Grip" of dictates.

Hugh and inode are right - its downright IRresponsible to hand KSM a platform for attacking and embarrassing the US and potentially give him a chance to escape justice.

Liberals just can't admit this.
