>>>>3 years to remove assets>>>
The medicare/medicaid rules are that if you remove any assets from your estate within a three year time period before you apply for such aid, it is their continuation that you have removed these assets to avoid paying for your nursing home care or other medical needs.

This is a hard set rule even though it is stupid to me for them to think that you will know in advance that in three years from any date you will know that you are going to suffer from a disease.

Three or four thousand a month for nursing home care will erode many elderly peoples life savings in a very short time. In the case of my Mother, my father has been deceased since 1953, but think of the implications for a surviving spouse that has seen the life savings eroded by the other spouse for this disease. Doesn't paint a pretty picture for many of our elderly citizens and think we all are facing this issue in the future. Since I'm only 18(forget that my father died in l953, I'm the first testtube baby in which they lost the tube for 26 years)it will be a long time before I have to personally face the issue.

<<I'm sure SERM's will become the drug of choice for a
lot of aging women--they seem to help prevent osteoporosis, breast cancer,
Alzheimer's and heart disease (think I read this on the thread). But what will we
men do?>>
Men get heart disease and SERMs (anti-estrogens) also have applications for baldness (I think you need both forms, an antagonist for topical treatment for baldness and an oral agonist to combat Alzhiemer's and improve memory).
