I guess if we are to feed anyone, I would prefer we feed Americans first. At least if the money stays here, we are more likely to help the average Americans and not just the rich. this might be cynical of me, but they have been hungry for s very long time and will continue to be so. all the talk of money spent in Afghanistan is a bit of a ruse - some care about debt and just don't want to do it. some want to fight a war any way anywhere. but the two sides have something in common... we don't spend in Afghanistan? that won't help healthcare pass. it won't increase spending for the hungry here. the people who need help in Afghanistan are no different to most Americans than the hungry are in their own country - they are the other. oh, it is a fine thing to bring up the things we need to do here in order to make a case against spending elsewhere, but bottom line is... we simply won't help do it. here or there. we line the pockets of the rich by our wars. we line the pockets of the rich here. and as long as the middle class doesn't feel the pinch too much... they are satisfied.
