Oh there's plenty to see: Pods of whale will ride alongside for miles - even got sprayed by their smelly blow once, the boat got nudged once, probably by a baby; Dolphins surfed in the bow wake - went up to the bow to watch them once and was prone leaning over the side to watch them when one turned on her side and looked up at me for about 10 seconds. One of the most magic encounters I can remember; What I estimated was at least 1000 dolphins on either side of the boat for miles, as far as I could see; Seagulls landing on the boat and hitching a ride.

which I think is part of what is disconcerting to me now about the sea...

I'm very much like that, land lubber that I am. I actually feel uncomfortable on the beach where I can see to the horizon.

In the mountains, you can see about 30 miles if you're high enough. There's a lot in between what you can touch and what you can see, and it's all different.

I would have been comfortable down in your holler. I like hills rising up in front of me.

Recently I spent some time in the Ozarks, and liked it very much.

I've spent hours in crows nests hundreds of miles off shore, and It felt like being in a nice protective bowl. The world is round.
