Re: "Don't take this as me saying the problem is small or unimportant because I most certainly think it is not, but I think your exaggerate it."

I believe that this most recent brush with global financial panic and meltdown has actually *increased* (not decreased) the dangers we in the States face with "too-big-to-be-allowed-to-fail", in that the largest of the too-big-to-fail firms that pose systemic risk have actually GOTTEN LARGER (and are posed to grow larger still...) by feasting on the carcasses of smaller failed ex-competitors (this is particularly noticeable in I-banking) and by having been showered with / nurtured by federal below-market capital injections.

This has only INCREASED the systemic risks. (And, despite the fact that such mega meltdowns only come around every generation of so... a MASSIVE and SCARY SYSTEMIC RISK is not really 'mitigated' merely by the fact that it is a "skinny tailed risk", and only expected to put a repeat appearance in after a generation or so has forgotten that the risk is even there. :-(

Re: "Also I don't think you can solve the problem. Systemic risk, isn't going away."

I however, am certain that the problem can be solved... I just don't have confidence that there is enough guts or true patriotic leadership to do so.
