<If the alleged SparQ drive is not compatible with the SyJet's disks at least, then it will join
forces with the Rocket to kill SyJet. And then there's supposed to be a 600 dollar, 2.5 GB SyJet?>

Let's hope the SparQ cartridges are compatible with Syjet. IF they are, at least they won't be obsoleting the Syjet. It looks like Syquest is going to compete in the upper end of the storage. The middle end is a crowded market. The 2.5 GB Syjet I believe is a go to keep them ahead of Jazz 2, as well as keep the Syjet name going.

I think you're right Syquest has a history of obsoleting their products but don't forget they are offering a rebate on older products even if it's not their own. $100 off for Syjet and $50 for EZ Flyer. Give them credit for at least doing this.

>>The point is that obsoleting your own products on a regular basis is no way to build market share.<<

Sounds like an assumption to me. Why not wait til we see what happens before going through all this?
