What matters is the EXPERTISE necessary to make them, and the availability of the explosives. Disrupt those two factors and I don't care how many $10 bills you fling around, you won't find someone with the skills or guts to make one, let alone actually attempt to emplace it. " You really don't know much about making simple IEDs do you? We're not talking about an IED that can bring down a building, we're talking about an IED that can cripple a vehicle and kill American soldiers. Anyone can be trained to make that IED. The low cost of the materials should have told you that. So you're once again way, way on the ignorant side of the equation and, of course, bad assumptions lead to bad conclusions. I think they call that GIGO; garbage in-garbage out. And the rest of your post claiming that there is a chain of command since "Some radical cleric fires up their "warrior spirit", promises them $100/month and they go out to wage Jihad" is ridiculous considering that we were discussing your grandiose claim that, "In sum, the way you get rid of those $10 IEDs is to eliminate the enemy chain of command and financial and logistic network. " As I said before, "With respect to IEDs the conclusions that flow from an intelligent assessment are, from our American point of view, disastrous. From the perspective of the Taliban groups of fighters, on the other hand, the assessments are currently fantastic. Why? ...Because their IEDs are easy to make, cheap, easy to plant, effective in causing disproportionate American deaths, injuries and losses of time, manpower and equipment, and because they suffer very few casualties and very little cost in "launching" them; i.e., the IED attacks are sustainable from their perspective." And, from the article YOU posted, and despite your misquote of that article, even in Iraq large quantities of explosives to make mega IEDs are available. Would you like to try again, maybe with a rational, realistic argument if you can make one? Ed
