It's funny, I wanted to be a teacher almost from the beginning, since I've always loved kids- but my parents were horrified. My mom was an unhappy teacher at a junior college, and my father was a librarian at Cal State Fullerton. Both of them were really unsuited to their jobs, so they were unhappy, and thought it was what they were doing, rather than the personal suitability of what they were doing.

I love teaching, and for the most part my students love having me as their teacher. I've instilled a love of books in many kids who formerly did not want to read. There are a lot of things I cannot do, and do not want to do, but teaching is something I really love.

So it sounds like you had sisters- did they not have the parental expectations on them which you had? Do you think they resented the attention you received?
