Teaching your Mother how to use a computer will prolong her life......I truly believe that. Didn't get it from any scientific survey or read it in Time magazine.........but I believe that. She'll happily get up every morning wondering "what is new today?" And she'll get into recipes (although I could understand if she didn't want to do any more cooking) or genealogy, or become a political junkie like me or want to learn how to quilt or write or learn more math or about the history of "hollers" or a gazillion other things and she won't have time to sit and wallow in the past like a lot of old people do. And I know this because I have seen that happen to many old people.

Teaching your Mother how to use a computer would be one of the best things you ever did as long as.........when the time comes.........you get her her own computer.
