Keep in mind that many Jews who lived in Eastern Europe and western USSR and Ukraine are descendants of the Khazars which originated form central Asia and adopted the Jewish faith. There are plenty of scientific articles that prove that intelligence is genetically hereditary and chances are that smart parents should have smart people the actual combination of "smart genes" and the actual education are a crucial factor in enabling a person to be a very sophisticated and smart criminal or an excelling artist, scientist or business person. As an example -the Talmud, Mishna and other semi religious writings of the Jewish fait are challenging the reader into logical thinking and questioning the writing and their interpretation is encouraged and recommended by the Rabbis in stark contrast to Islam where the Imam is issuing a FATWA based on his right or wrong understanding and anyone challenging this ruling does it at his own peril Further the Jewish faith is open minded and not delegated from above by decree like Christianity or Islam by the region Imam which makes a hell of difference in free thinking and innovation. As a result Russian Jews where disproportionate part (for good or bad) of the Artistic, Scientific and Political establishments of Russian regime which in turn induced Stalin to destroy this ethnic group of fear of the results of their free thinking which he saw as a treat to his totalitarian regime.
