youtube.com

I thot trashy music and pictures of lemurs and greenhouses was a sign that big company "responsibility" was in full force. There can't be any dead mice behind the factory with a website like that, unless they died of excess exposure to elevator music.

Various phases of well meaning shoot footing is in swing in the far off banana belt political horizons. We understand they see our institutions as all latter day Getty Oil's and United Fruit Companies looking to despoil on behalf of coupon clippers in smoke filled dens in the big Apple. We wish. The concept of the risk capital venture and the SOOCAT principle of the jr. pubco striking it big in the new opportunity of being able to get sou one at sky high gold prices, out of what was a desert rat hole 70 years ago, and prone to far worse corruption and exploitation by the Villas of the day, we believe has not yet occurred to them. Short of Cash at All Times = public venture.

It is rather instructive to look at what some economists havedivined about nations who have been victims of US plunder and exploitation in times gone by. First they became cargo cults, then exploited for resources of all kinds, with little shekel drip left at home, (shades of Northern Ontario.) Then recipients of US "protection" of the seventh fleet, then massive aid packages, interference from the CIA, then subjected to rising stars of protectionists independentistas, then nationalization, then right to work, social revolutions, holding hands with left wing groups in the 1st world, then trade agreements, to tourist destinations. At the end of the episodes of constant depradation they emerge in the latter part of the 20th century with economies outgrowing the US, and outstripping their lesser and less exploited neighbours.

"1. the company is not handling it well,"</>

Attended a talk a few years ago about how some brilliant geologists from Meridian discovered a great deposit in Argentina which would have a significant influence on the profitability of the company. Unfortunately the brilliant geos were overly impressed with their own brilliance and treated the locals like dung. The locals re-acted and the State passed laws preventing the development of the mine. Tough lesson!

It appears the lesson has still not been learned. Speaking to a prospector yesterday who has a deposit on which he staked the federal mining rights. Meridian (now Yamana) owns the surface rights. Mining rights trump surface rights! However, Yamana attitude is "screw you" "if you don't like it sue us". Prospector said it would be easier to deal with the Sierra Club than deal with Yamana.
