Perhaps, but I'm not talking about the immigrants. I'm talking about the white guy around the corner. I'm finding the born and bred in the USA to be increasingly ignorant, uneducated, and hyper-religious. When I start hearing people say that evolution is a big hoax and the earth is only 10,000 years old because the Bible says so, then I know I've been transported to bizarro world. When you talk to sciencists and they are all puzzled that there is a debate on climate change among the general populace and the general populace thinks it's a big conspiracy theory, then I know bizarro world is the new normal in the US. We've become a society that glorifies Hollywood and reality TV and thinks science is for the birds. Our politics isn't about rational debate, but one line slogans and vilification. It's all coming apart. I hate to be pessimistic, but something is very broken in this country.
