It is. Here's the problem. The folks in the GOP will tell you that we should never consider what we're going to get out of a war. Instead, if we feel threatened, we should only think about how quickly we can eliminate the threat. If you say, "wait. stop. think about the cost versus the benefit." They tell you that you are not patriotic and that thinking about benefits and return on investment with war is immoral.

I'll tell you what is immoral. When old fat rich white men like Cheney tell us to stop dithering and send our kids to war quickly without thinking about how long they'll be there, what their objective will be, what the benefit will be for the US, nor taking any time to think about what the exit strategy will be.

If I'm going to spend untold number of American lives and another $800B over the next 8 years, I want to know how many American lives we can save through those actions and how we can recover that $800B through contracts or trade or something that will come from the country we are helping.

All of this war is breaking this country. Not breaking. It's broken this country. We're broke.

It's called asymmetrical warfare.
We put up a soldier out of high school in full gear with air support for 1 million a year.
They put up a teenager who gets less than a dollar for pressing the button on an IED.
This arrangement reflects available resources and currently results in an standoff.

Which side will bankrupt first ? War has always been about resources and not the bravado of the participants.
