Was there an agreement on the 'right' to go into the Balkans? I wasn't paying attention then, so I really don't know but vague memory is there wasn't. As to WWII in terms of Europe, without more compelling reason why should we have lost so many young people and everyone able going off to war just because the Euros were in yet another of the ongoing tribal wars? But the aftermath is interesting... the Marshall Plan. And we even did a great deal to build up Japan, who had attacked us and declared war on us. it's worked out rather well for us in many ways, and for both Europe and Japan) And we didn't leave all those troops in Germany and Japan and disarm them because we trusted them.
