Then Redmon O'Hanlon, my favorite travel writer, is an absolute must:

It is Kalimantan. Not Borneo. Balikpapan, Bajarmasin, Pontianak, Samarinda, Tarakan. I pole-climbed on all those cities in the 1995 to 1997.

Is 911 Big Brother? In the book George Orwell '1984' one thing that was impossible to implement was that camera that watched over all citizens.

Imagine the army of people necessary to watch over the whole population and respond to acts that broke the rules.

The US got a policial state with Big Brother watching over by proxy.

See how it works. People grow up used to dial 911 for anything. It is taugh at the tenderst age to dial 911. Then they will act as the extension of eyes and ears of Big Brother.
They constant watch their neighbors and even if not their neighbors in case of passers by.

The professor that was trying to enter his own house and got in trouble with police (the Mass. black man who eneded up drinking a beer with Obama to sort things out.

In any country in the world, you would pass, slow down, give a close look and move. That is enough to dissuade and put a thief to flee.
If a thief is stupid enough to break in on plain viw of the passer by it is another mater for the passer by to judge.

Neighbors -in non policial states- would hear a bang, tyres scrreching or metal banging, will instant react coming to the window and looking.

If they see your neighbor car that hit a hydrant or a tree on your own yeard, will rush to know what is going on. Even if it was not the most famous golfer in the planet.

You check, call an ambulance, it is a wounded man, not a bandido.
What happens in the case of Tiger. They called te police. Police is trained to look for an handle what? Bandidos.

So Tiger must be a bandido, they reason. They can recognize one. Now he has a domestic problem and now he is on the pages of the papers.

In any country in the world, he would be victm. In the US he is a guilty of somehting and it will only take a while to find of what.
