I'm no fan of Huckabee, but he did NOT pardon this guy. There's alot of misinformation being tossed about.

Gov Huckabee did not release the man suspected of killing 4 law enforcement officers. He commuted the suspect's sentence in 2000 from 108 years to 47 years in prison. With a sentence of 47 years, an intervening party - a parole board - could decide whether he should be paroled or not.
