I don't glorify it, and haven't used it myself in more than 25 years. It's 24 years for me, even though I could have been stoned 7 days a week when I lived in Amsterdam if I chose. Doesn't really interest me, and I quit smoking anything more than ten years ago and don't intend to backslide. But pot and pot users will be out there in large numbers. That's a basic fact. Our public policy response to that fact has been a miserable failure in terms of its stated goals. That's a fact. Yet we don't quite have a consensus yet to stop the endless wheel of futility. Though it looks like the wall is cracking faster and faster in some places. This should be one of those issues we look back on in ten years and wonder what the fuss was about. Tick, tock.

Does it really matter your volume of substance consumption if it is impacting your life negatively? - demonstrated low ambition and performance, - unable to avoid use when you know you can lose your job or not get one. In case of people I have terminated they were routinely late for work, and reported to work looking tired and spent. Drug screening at work is important in many positions where public safety is involved. As far as legalizing drugs to reduce crime, what do you think all these gang bangers and others in the distribution are going to do? How about sell their product cheaper than the government? How about other crimes?
