The framers believed it did. "Consent of the people" is defined as the majority.

I don't think having elected politicians vote a policy in to effect changes the basic moral nature of the policy.

Well "moral nature" is bringing in a whole new dimension... one that is REALLY in the eye of the beholder. Don't even want to go there.

Not at all. The constitution doesn't address this issue.

The rule of law? You were arguing that people should be free not to follow the law without repercussion.
