Mary;

We caused most of this economic disaster. We suffered the most

yes we did with huge deficit spending. We caused it on our own by deficit spending ourselves into a hole of debt. So that alll this deficit spending caused us to be the hardest hit and "suffering the most" then why oh why do you want more of it? Do you somehow think we don't have to pay it back?

So back to the chart; US has stimulus spending of 2.7% of GDP. Germany is highest of listed European countries with 1.4% and UK, France and Italy have less than 1%. (Of course Krugman wanted it three times as big so I guess that puts us at over7% in his eyes). So in the future, who will fare better, those that charged up 1% of their credit card or the country that charged up 7%?

Mary, we are in no position to be dictating anything to anybody....not the Europeans and not the Chinese. Both these groups are doing fine without our advice and certainly without our example.
