Since I never argued for self-regulation and explicitly said there should be strong regulation against undue risk, your finely honed historical rant is totally unresponsive to the points I made.

And to get back to my specific point, the securitizations created from the mid-80's through 2005 did a lot of good all around. If we ever get sound regulation again, we will be aiming to get back to that kind of credit market functionality.

That's my point. You can argue against all the other extremes with someone else who supported them. That's most of what I see today, careful analysis chucked over the side for the sake of a good rant. It's unfortunate.
