I will reply to the post later, this one caught my eye.

DO NOT FORGET that the UNSC has issued a Chapter VII BINDING RESOLUTION with regard to Iran's nuclear program. That means that "all necessary means" (including military force) are permissible in bringing Iran into compliance.
Compliance? Compliance to what? We can't pull the same trick twice. Iran is in compliance with the NPT agreement, last I time I checked. However, I love to see Israel attack Iran, however, not us. We should stay the hell out of this one. More later.

But as an example, if a bunch of American religious fanatics were hanging out in Mexico or Canada, and those respective governments supported them for the purpose of overthrowing the US government, would that be a "domestic" insurgency, or foreign inspired?
From few posts back
Let us start by talking to Iran's internal opposition groups and assisting them (covertly, of course) to take charge of their own government. We're not going to get anywhere by talking to the current government.. Been there, done that..

Time to talk DIRECTLY to the Iranian people.

Would that be a "domestic" insurgency, or foreign inspired?

Bingo!.. Now you're starting to track the reasons why it's so important to pressure Pakistan. We can't have a situation like Vietnam, where the insurgents can find sanctuary across a border. And if Pakistan can't control their frontiers, someone else will have to do so.
Geez, Hawk we can not control our own borders, how can you expect us to control Afghanistan-Pakistan borders? We can only put a dent in it and no more than a dent, they will always find a way around us.

As for weapons, it's not much of a stretch there. The Punjabis were MAKING AK-47 in their houses back in the 80's. That whole region is one huge arms manufacturing bizarre.
I read somewhere that the Taliban love the Israeli Uzi and Israel is part of the bazaar.

But the money is the other issue, and only the Pakistanis can truly interdict that.
If the money is coming from Russia or China, as you are well aware that the Pakistanis are more than happy to take their cut and turn a blind eye. Either the Pakistanis hate us so much or we are not paying them enough.

But more importantly, the tribal leaders who live in these ungoverned provinces have no desire to see government forces moving in to control their territories. So they need to police their own turf. But they are overwhelmed and intimidated by Taliban forces and scared to move against them.
Something does not make sense in that statement. They hate to be policed by the government, yet they let themselves be controlled by the Talibans. Is that what you meant by it?

And what is Iran doing around the world? Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza.. etc. But let's just say it can be done in such a manner that Iran's ruling regime probably won't say much except to declare the opposition to be pawns of the "great satan".
Iran can use our own lip service. They can say we are help the helpless to stand on their feet. In the case of Lebanon and Yemen, they are helping their fellow Shiaa which are neglected and oppressed by their own government. In the Gaza case they can say we are helping the oppressed to stand up to their occupier.
We arm the Lebanese army, yet we supply it with outdated tanks and weapons. No one in the ME should have equal equipments to Israel. Thus, the Lebanese government is look upon as a America's lapdog and can not be trusted to defend the Lebanese population from an Israeli attack as we saw in 2006. Why are we surprised when Hizbo is somehow popular in Lebanon?
So, Iran gives Hizbo the latest and greatest and we give the government our leftovers. And this is a government that we want to succeed, after all Lebanon is a democracy. I feel as we want the Lebanese government to fail, we do not support it as much as we support Israel. That is but one example.

You want to unleash democracy, start by being fair and just, because no one likes to live under a dictatorship. In another word, we are not trusted in ME no matter what our intentions are.

DO NOT FORGET that the UNSC has issued a Chapter VII BINDING RESOLUTION with regard to Iran's nuclear program. That means that "all necessary means" (including military force) are permissible in bringing Iran into compliance.
ROFLOL,UNSC member are the our senators that won't pass a bill with out stuffing it with pork. UNSC is where we veto any resolution ordering Israel to stop its aggression against its neighbors and the Palestinians? I am sorry Hawk, you can wipe your ass with the UNSC.

It also means that an overthrow of the current regime is permissible.

And guess what.. Israel can act under the mandate of that UNSC resolution as well and be completely legitimate in its actions.

In fact, any member of the UN can act to enforce that resolution.

So Iran can flatten Tel Aviv every time the Israelis fly over Lebanon, under UNSC resolution 1701, right?
