Since he used the term "freedom movement" I took that to include the whole range of Beck-Palin-Armey-Tea Party ranters, whose lists of apocalyptic insults are very, very long for 2009. I think those are wonderful principles that the author outlined. But the implication that a couple of evil Dems are responsible for undermining them while the "freedom" crowd has walked the walk of pure virtue is completely at odds with the facts. The sewer that American politics has become this year is indeed tragic, because it is blocking the policy outcomes that interest me most. But the the most excited players love the game, not the results.
