I fully subscribe to the notion of giving people the benefit of the doubt. I always accept plausible deniability despite any suspicions. It takes a number of examples before I conclude a pattern.

If you have any other examples from this guy that indicate he participated in or condoned examples from the other side (notice I didn't say "his side" because I don't know enough about him to know if he even has a partisan affiliation), then your judgment is reasonable.

I understand and appreciate your explanation for your conclusion but, no, I do not find it adequate. I accept his example with caveat at face value until and unless he gives me reason to think otherwise. My acceptance is supported by his very excellent list, which shows me he understands the problem and knows how to behave. Even if one is dubious about his example, his obvious appreciation for the problem and his concern about the discourse hygiene would weigh on the side of sincerity enough to at least give him the benefit of the doubt.
