They're wheeling in the cots right now... Loved this comment from TPM (can't get the whole thing from TPM...maybe the lines are down) but here's the gist of it, along with one of the many comments from one of the Freepers.... Even the movie producers couldn't put this much chaos into one movie. Who said God doesn't have a sense of humor??TPM via Freepers: Wheeling In The Cots: A Winter Snow Emergency--And An Absentee Lieberman-- TPM ^ | Dec 18, 2009 | Brian Beutler Posted on Friday, December 18, 2009 8:59:33 PM by BAW As if Democrats didn't have enough to worry about. Overnight and into tomorrow, Washington, D.C. is preparing for a major snow storm, complete with thunder and high winds. A winter snowpocalypse. On any other weekend, that would be no biggy for Senate Democrats, but tomorrow, they need all hands on deck if they hope to keep on track to pass their health care bill by Christmas. And remember, they can't afford a single slip-up. So here's another wrinkle: Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) has skipped town. Already, they've wheeled in the cots for members and staff who choose to slumber party the night away in the Capitol, or Senate offices. But tomorrow, bright and early, all of them could need to be on hand for procedural reasons. For instance, Democrats expect to have to waive a budget point of order they expect Republicans to raise against the defense appropriations bill. That requires 60 votes. Potentially complicating matters, though is that Lieberman, who's caused Democratic leadership no shortage of political heartburn on health care, isn't even in town! (Excerpt) Read more at tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com ...Comment from a Freeper: Good for Joe. Perfect thing to do. First they try to browbeat him to vote for the bill, then they attacked his wife! That made Joe mad. Then, the junior piece of baggage FRanken insulted him on the Senate Floor. Again, Good on Joe. What can they do,have him arrested and brought to town. Besides all else, it is the Sabbath for Joe too. DC is about to get hit with a record storm. Two inches of snow in DC shuts it down = what's going to happen with 2 feet? Even for those who camp out at the Senate through the storm - they'd best pack tooth brushes...it ain't gonna be easy to get home even after the storm passes. Chaos may reign, WHAT is this hell for broke Reid is pushing - there is NO reason for this rush and no reason to put peoples lives in jeopardy in the middle of a storm. This is a bill, even should it pass, that won't go into effect until 2014. There is something here that does not pass the smell test. 15 posted on Friday, December 18, 2009 9:21:30 PM by maine-iac7 ("He has the right to criticize who has the heart to help" Lincoln)
