I remember liberals on this thread were wringing their hands when the Bush administration was pursuing a weak dollar policy. Krugman was rather circumspect with regard to the weak dollar, but now that Obama is in office, the weak dollar is now a blessing:


I am not sure which liberals you mean. You didn't hear it from me. I have never understood the concern over a weak dollar. The US is an expensive country vis a vis the third world. A weak dollar helps to make our products more competitive in the world marketplace.

One thing is for sure. A weak dollar combined with massive deficit spending seems to be the path of least resistance for the Fed. This was true for Bush, and it seems to be true for Obama. Despite the pullback from recent highs, I think my gold position is safe. ;-)

I don't know. I think the gold trade may be done for now. Never overstay your welcome in any asset class. That's my motto.
