The handsets are around $750 before any subsidies. Although I have seen the price for the telephone booth type fixed terminals, I can't remember what it is. Seems to me it was in the $2000 to $3000 range. It appears now that all this flap about pricing will be meaningless as long as Iridium is more expensive(even then demand may outstrip supply). There are plenty of paying customers without access----tens of millions at last count. G* could handle 4 million absolutely maxed out and without getting people pissed about quality of service. We may throw out numbers haphazardly on these boards, but the analysts have been going country to country and speaking with G* partners about the business thay have lined up---the estimates of demand from these sources have been rising, not falling. Don't worry about the #'s----"If Bernie builds it, they will come."

Hi Maurice,

After think of it again, I found the my current long distance plan from Sprint is very much like your concept " Current Price is ..." plan except Sprint plan has two fixed pricing from two segments of time frames. It runs like this: from 8AM to 8PM is one pricing (a peak time hours - more expensive); from 8PM to the next 8AM is another pricing (cheaper to get more use). I almost always wait until after 8PM to make any long distance calls unles there is any emergency.

Your plan for auction price on handsets seems to be too late to address because I remember seeing the handset price is around $750 or so for Globalstar phone. Are you saying to auction the handset based on the market demands and may even be purchased cheaper than $750 and down or starting from $750 and up?
