The point that you are missing is that under the federal plan the government will decide what kind of protection I get. While this is more or less true in most states do to the fact that personal freedom is meaningless to most governments, the fact is I would prefer a system where the insurance company and I can contract on what they will pay for what they will not.

I for one feel the need only for catastrophic coverage. I have no problem paying for the routine stuff. However, if I get cancer and need a few hundred dollars worth of medicals that is the insurance I want. I can't even buy that anymore.
