For one.. it's been more than 50 years. The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928 by Al-Banna in Egypt with the goal of reinstituting Shari'a law throughout the Middle East.

And Hamas is a more militant offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Al-Qaida is also heavily influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood primarily due to Ayman Al-Zawahiri's presence (he's Egyptian).

And I take issue with your concept of "the more they brag, the less powerful they are". Hitler was a braggart, but he managed to drag the world through a terrible ordeal that cost millions of lives before he was ultimately defeated.

Are the goals of these Militant Muslims unreachable? Sure. Eventually they will push so far that the rest of the world FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGES THE THREAT THEY POSE. At such a point we will wage a huge conflict and defeat them. But that's going to require a huge mobilization of our military forces, extensive occupation and nation building in order to purge these militant tendencies from their culture and make the government's accountable to the needs of their people, rather than the other way around.

Governments MUST be accountable to their people's needs because that's an important check and balance against tyrannical power. And an accountable government has to explain and justify it's actions to that constituency, as well as face peaceful opposition and change.

We can cast blame in a significant number of directions, both externally and internally, for why the Mid-East is the way it is. But the US is NOT the primary causative agent for why religious militancy is taking place in the Muslim world.

They believe what they believe because we're permitting their radical clerics and leaders TO TEACH IT.

Your willingness to excuse and ignore the brainwashing that is taking place among Muslims is no different than the racism and bigotry that we used to permit to be taught in this society.
