Hopefully, there are some competent Government employees who are asking the same questions and trying to figure out these things....

Again, knowing there are many Muslims in Detroit, was that the reason? Why not other cities in the US could he have gone to from Amsterdam direct to the US...?

Why didn't he blow himself up while in the rest room, which might have made a hole in the plane?

Did he deliberately cause the device to fail?

And how did he get to the US in the first place without a passport? Does one have to show a passport on leaving an EU country, and does one have to go through any passport or other screening again when he/she actually gets to their US destination?

It does seem to me that not screening on arrival to the destination is another place that should have attention...Passengers could possibly have a device of some sort added to them when they are on the plane....
