The Israelis must be scratching their heads as they look at the United States repeated failures to grapple with this problem.

Bush made a huge mistake when he set the tone against profiling -- which was done for reasons of political correctness. Obama, of course, has continued the policy (or more to the point, hasn't acted to change it).

It ought to be simple. We target males aged 15-40 when there is some reason to believe they are Muslims. Period. Until someone else threatens an aircraft, they're the people we deal with.

A person traveling internationally without taking ANYTHING with them has to be a rarity. And on a one-way ticket purchased for cash, even more rare.

I haven't flown in or out of the country in years. But I suspect, given a database of passengers for any international flight, I could write a few lines of SQL in about 5 mins that extract a list of damned people who need to be looked at a little harder.

Wrong. this explosive would have been caught by any standard nitro sniffer coming close to´it - or any dog trained to snif nitro.

The problem was that neither dog, nor sniffer handset got close to him because he wasn't profiled.

A black guy arriving from Nigeria with a Muslim name...under Bush, that guy had been pulled out at any time to be - well, 'sniffed'.

That was all changed by your 'little o', in the name of profiling fairness.

Kind of interesting that obviously the US media don't report that his explosive would be detected by a nitro sniffer, that's all over the media in Europe.
