It is a fact that the high yielding varieties of wheat and corn are not heat tolerant. There is a reason why none of the southern states are big wheat producers. "Past geologic times like the Carboniferous Period which were significantly warmer created the vast stores of coal and oil we have today." So? Tree ferns wouldn't support a very large population.
