Prevention is wonderful, it improves and prolongs lives, and should be practiced - but it involves more costs, not savings.

Actually from a net present value perspective, the same "dollar expense" of end of life 30 years from now is a lot less than end of life expenses 10 years from now. Hence it is cheaper from an NPV perspective, and on top of that, the person gets to live 20 more years!!
